It's been a long time since my last post. I had some personal commitments during the vacations.
Today I stitched a dress for myself and used closed buttonhole stitch on the neck by working it in two close lines.
Today I stitched a dress for myself and used closed buttonhole stitch on the neck by working it in two close lines.
I would like to show a sequential explanation of the closed buttonhole stitch
Here I have inserted the needle in a point on the line and fixed it there.
Then I have started working the stitch from the bottom of the line in a diagonal manner.
The stitch will look like this when the first step is done.
Now the second step of the stitch is worked by inserting needle at the same spot below the line.
Remember to wind the thread around the needle before pulling it out.
The needle comes out on the line drawn in a diagonal manner again but in the opposite direction.
This is how the stitch will look when completed. It looks like an equilateral triangle.
Again the first step is repeated to get a line of closed buttonhole stitch.
This is a completed view of the stitch. I have also used the stitch in a design for your reference.
If you notice I have upturned the cloth for the picture hence the triangle is sitting upright.
This is a picture of the neck for you. I have zoomed in to get a closer look.
There is another variation to this.
First as always fix the thread at a point.
Then at a lower point insert the needle at an angular position and bring the needle out at the starting point.
The line is inclined to the left.
The next stitch is done by inserting the needle at the same point as in the previous step and bring it out at a point directly above the point of insertion.
Now we get a right angled triangle.
The third step is to insert the needle at the same point and bring it out at a point angling to the right .
Repeat the first step as before.
I have used this stitch along the neckline.
