Back stitch

In this stitch  first a straight stitch is worked and then the needle is inserted in the cloth at a regular interval behind the first stitch and brought out in front of the first stitch at the same interval. This process is continued to get a straight line.
There can be variations in this stitch by weaving the contrast colour thread around back stitch. This is called Threaded back stitch.
The contrast colour thread can also be woven up and down consecutive stitches to get Whipped back stitch.
I have done all these variations in my sample below.
