This stitch is also called blanket stitch because it is used to attach appliques to blankets. It can be used as a border stitch or filling stitch. I have tried to illustrate the sequence of working this stitch.
The first step is to fix the thread on to cloth at a point.
The next step is to pierce the cloth from below the line to the line keeping the
thread around needle.
When we pull out the needle we get a perpendicular line. The second stitch is done just like the first.
I have used this stitch as a border of the design.
This stitch can also be used to fill a design. I have used it to fill the design below.
