Satin Stitch
----------------
Satin stitch is one of my favourites.I guess it must be your favourite stitch too.It is liked by everyone not only because it is easy to do but also because it fills the design. It gives a rich look to the design.
I have used two strands of anchor thread here.Usually I use only one thread.
First step as in any other stitch is to fix the thread at the upper left side corner of the design.
The next step is to pierce the needle from the bottom left corner to the starting point.
This is how the first stitch will look once the needle is pulled out.
The next step is to make the second stitch close to the first.
Once a few stitches are done it will look like this .Care should be taken not to leave any gap between stitches.
The completed motif will look like this. I have done this stitch in another design below.
Padded Satin Stitch
--------------------------
As the name suggests the same fundamental Satin stitch is done in such away that it gives an uplifted image
First a chain stitch is worked along the outline of the stitch.
Then the centre of the design is filled with running stitch togive a base for the satin stitch which will be done in the next step.
Then two strands of thread are taken and a normal satin stitch is done from the chain in one end of the design to the other.
Care is taken to move the needle through the cloth.
When we complete the motif it looks padded up and full.
This is another example of padded satin stitch.
Step by Step Satin Stitch
------------------------------------
You must have guessed by the name itself that this stitch is done step by step. All stitches are done step by step but here the design is separated in different steps.
To complete the design we must complete one step at a time.We start from the lowest step and move up as we finish one line.
From the diagram above you can see that I have divided the apple in four different parts by drawing horizontal lines across the design.I started working on the lowest part. After filling I moved on to the next.
In the picture you can see that I have finished three steps.
Here is the finished apple.I divided the leaf also into three parts.
Another motif with STEP BY STEP SATIN STITCH.
This technique can be used to fill big sized designs which cannot be filled in one length.
