Hi friends, today I stitched a petticoat. I saw a video tutorial and stitched it.
So I thought I can share some pictures.
Take 2 metres of cloth and taking the length of the petticoat as 36 inches fold the cloth so that it has four layers.
Then I measured 6 1/2inches along one side of the length and marked it.
Similarly I marked 6 1/2inches on the other end of the length of the cloth.
Join these two points to to get a diagonal line.
As you can see I have cut across the diagonal line.
Now I have four piece of cloth which is straight on one side and diagonal on the other.
I also have two pieces which are diagonal on both sides.
Now keeping the latter piece in the middle attach two of the four pieces we have on either side.
When attaching the small piece keep the straight side along the middle piece.
Also remember to keep the 6 1/2 inches along the waist so that the broader part is at the bottom.
This ensures that the bottom is wide enough for leg movement.
This is repeated for the other 3 pieces so that the front and back is ready.
Fold the bottom by 1inch and stitch to cover the raw edge.
In the upper portion fold one side by 1/2 inch towards the wrong sideand stitch for a length of 2inches.
Attach the two pieces.
Keep frills at 2inches gap to make the waist of right size.
Taking a Patti of 2inches width and length of the waist size, fold 1/4inch along the length and stitch.
Now to join the Patti stitch the raw edge of the Patti to the wrong side of the petticoat.
Then fold over the Patti and stitch along the waist to complete the petticoat.
